Summer recipes!

Summer is in full swing here in Texas. Today I’m sharing some recipes that keep me cool and calm in the Texas heat.
I keep the Natural Outdoor Spray by the pool and use it when I’m in the pool on my head and hands to help keep annoyances away.  We keep a standing fan by the pool to help with this, too!
The Summer Hair Spritz is great at the beach or after a shower. Just spray, scrunch, and go–and your hair smells great all day.
I love the After Sun and Cooling Spray for when I’m outdoors in the Texas heat–especially when I’m camping or at the beach.  It really works to cool me off!
There is nothing like lemonade on a hot summer day, and this recipe for Lavender Lemonade made with real lemons and agave nectar is so refreshing. But I’ve decided that I may like the lavender limeade variation even better!
Note: these recipes are only for Young Living essential oils.  Many oils on the market are adulterated, not therapeutic grade, and not for ingestion
Enjoy the summer!

Spring Cleaning for You and Your Home

It’s Spring ! Time to freshen everything in  your home, including yourself!

We had a Spring Cleaning for You and Your Home Class here in San Antonio.

Check out the recipes below.

Thieves Cleaning Wipes – These are so handy.  I keep this small size in the camper and use it on campouts. It is also great for the car. I have a larger container in my  home.

Use a cylindrical one quart container:

(I use this one: Zip Loc Twist n Loc, Medium Rounds

You can also use a coffee can but wash in dishwasher first!

Add to the quart container:

1 capful of Thieves Household Cleaner

½ cup of water

Saw a regular size ( not wide) paper towel roll in two (using a serrated knife like a bread knife or an electric knife)

Place the ½ roll in the quart container with the Thieves cleaner and water

(You may need to remove some of the paper towels for it to fit in the container)

Turn upside down until the paper towel roll is soaked through. Then remove the cardboard roll. (It comes out easily when it is soaked). You can now pull up the wipes from the middle of the roll.

This makes a great size container for the car or camper.

For the wider (more common now) paper towel rolls, get a larger container from Target, etc. You can keep this larger size in your kitchen.

Thieves Household Cleaner – How did I ever do without Thieves Cleaner? I always have it on hand now. Great for the kitchen, bath, removing stains, etc.

Add 1 capful of Thieves Cleaner concentrate to 24-32 oz spray bottle.

Fill spray bottle w water.

Replace spray nozzle.

Use for cleaning in kitchen, bath, glass, outdoors.

I keep a spray bottle of Thieves in the kitchen, bathroom, and utility room.

Foaming Orange Botanical Face Wash – This is great for mature skin (I use it) and also teens love it.

Add 2 tsp YL Orange Blossom Botanical Face Wash to a 2 oz foaming pump bottle.

Fill w water.

If using an 8 oz foaming pump bottle, add 2 Tbsp of the face wash and fill w water.

Foaming pump bottles can be found on Amazon and Bulk Apothecary

The Orange Blossom Botanical Face Wash will last a LONG TIME this way!

Lavender Makeup Remover Pads  – These are one of my favorites! No more running to the drug store for make-up remover. I just make my own with natural products. It works for waterproof mascara, too.

  • Add to 4-ounce airtight glass container (Mason jar is good):
  • 2 tablespoons fractionated coconut oil
  • 4-5 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 1 tablespoon witch hazel
  • 2 tablespoons filtered water
  • Add round cotton pads. Turn upside down until pads are soaked through.

Lavender Limeade – Everyone loved this recipe.  I think it’s even better than lavender lemonade!

Long (Hand-squeezed) Version (adapted from Young Living blog):

7 limes, juiced

1⁄2 cup honey (or agave nectar)

2 drops Lavender Vitality essential oil

Ice water, about 10 cups

  1. Combine lime juice, honey, and Lavender Vitality in a large glass pitcher.
  2. Add water to taste.
  3. Stir until well mixed.
  4. Garnish with sprigs of lavender if available

Short version (how I did it)

Simply Limeade (from HEB;~2 quart size)

Add slices of 2-3 limes

Add 2 drops of lavender (Vitality) essential oil

Serve in pitcher with ice.

Guacamole – You won’t believe how a couple of drops of lime enhances the flavor!

Use your favorite guacamole recipe or buy from HEB

Add 1-2 drops of Lime (Vitality) essential oil.
